Warning to Sri Lanka Mobile Phone Users.

It is illegal to download indecent images in to your mobile phone in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Government has decided to to ban downloading sexual scenes to mobile phones with immediate effect. This was decided after the National Child safety Authority complained that a lot of children in the country are using their mobile phones for this kind of activities.

The Government is going to order the mobile phone service providers to disallow this kind of service. An special division will be made to look after and monitor the activities and implement it strictly. The authorities will also set up a hotline to make complaints regarding such activities.

Mobile Phone users must get registered.

Sri Lanka Government recently announced that using other people's mobile phone is illegal. Each person must provide their NIC or passport to get their SIM from any of the carrier's in Sri Lanka. The SIM cards will digitally contain their information. If any one had lost their SIM card must make a complaint to the police and with that only they can claim their new SIM. Mean while the carrier will disable the old SIM card.

Limit for number SIM card ownership.
Sri Lanka Government is going to introduce a new law that will allow any person to hold only 5 SIM connections only from any of the mobile phone service providers like Dialog, Airtel, Mobitel, Hutch and Etisalat. Having more than 5 SIM cards from any one of the carrier will be a legal violation.
